Kimberley (Kimi) Nyquist, BSN, RN

Doctorate of Nurse Practice- Family Nurse Practitioner Candidate

Hello!

who I am & what I do

Hello! My name is Kimberley (Kimi) Nyquist. I am a FNP student at Creighton University College of Nursing. I am nearing the start of my clinical rotations and am reaching out to you because I believe you have unique experience that can help shape me into a well-rounded FNP.

I graduated with my BSN from Creighton University in 2021. After graduating, I moved to Lincoln, NE and started my nursing career at Bryan East on the Cardiac PCU. From there, I have worked in outpatient surgery at Lincoln Surgical Hospital, the emergency room at Bryan East and Beatrice Community Hospital, long-term acute care at Select Specialty in Omaha, and medical-surgical at Shenandoah Medical Center (Iowa).

I have always known that I wanted to advance my education. Between my bachelor’s and starting graduate school, I continued my education at Southeast Community College and shadowed in various specialties, including Physical Therapy and Genetic Counseling.

When I applied to the DNP program, I debated for a while about which speciality would be right for me. In my nursing career, I have truly loved my experiences in the emergency department and outpatient surgery. I strongly believe this is because of the diverse populations and illnesses I work with in both settings. Both settings allowed me to expand and apply my knowledge in ways other positions had not. I believe that a speciality in Family Medicine would also allow me to work with diverse populations and continue to challenge me intellectually.

Finding the right preceptor is important to me! I am looking for someone who is committed to continued education, treating the whole person, and is passionate about interprofessional care. If you feel that you may be a good fit, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you!
